Mike grew up in San Antonio, TX and began playing guitar as a senior at Mac Arthur High School. In 2004, he relocated to attend the University of North Texas where he started playing around Denton in 2005. He recorded an acoustic EP in 2007 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in 2009, which is actually somewhat funny once you get to know Mike.
Continuing to pursue his musical ambitions and his desire to perform Mike formed a band in 2008 and recorded his first, full length album, “Come and Take It” in 2009. A solid, rugged performer, “Come and Take It” sums up Mike’s approach to his music perfectly. He’s in it for the long haul and earning his stripes on the highways and byways of Texas, Oklahoma and across the Southern U.S. Mike has been influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Allman Brothers, Ray Charles, Garth Brooks, Metallica, Gov’t Mule, Tom Petty, Ryan Adams, Led Zeppelin, BB King, John Mayer, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Robert Earl Keen, Willie Nelson, Bill Withers, Walt Wilkins, Pat Green, Ragweed, Stoney Larue, Bob Dyllan… just to name a few. His live shows are a mix of rock, blues, soul and Southern country. Versatile, deep, pure and evocative, Mike Ryan is here to stay. |
